New business angel network, Dow Schofield Watts Angels, which aims to boost investment in the North’s technology sector has attracted over 50 potential investors and almost 40 companies within its first month.

Northern Irish startup Intupod has recently received funding from Startup Funding Club. The early-stage company provides solutions for functional high quality, cost effective, multi-use living spaces. 

Form3, the cloud-based, end-to-end, secure platform for global payments processing, today announced it has secured a strategic investment from Barclays, the Angel CoFund and several individual investors who have joined the existing shareholders in raising $5m.

NorthInvest, the angel investor platform that supports and mentors businesses in the North of England, has been recognised as ‘one to watch’ at the UK Business Angel Investment Awards 2017.  Founded in 2015 by aql CEO, Dr Adam Beaumont, NorthInvest is a not-for-profit platform owned by its angel investor members.  It was formed to address a gap in the funding ecosystem to provide easier access to mentorship and seed funding for start-up companies.

Lein Applied Diagnostics, a company developing high precision measuring technology at the Reading Enterprise Centre has just closed on the first tranch of its current equity funding round.  The close saw a member of the Henley Business Angels participcate along with other angels and existing investors, raising a total of £440,000.

Startup Funding Club (SFC) has recently invested over £300K into three British startups: Curamicus, Dan Dan Digital, and Onkho. The early-stage companies operate in the healthcare, digital marketing, and fintech industries respectively. 

The 2017 EBAN Annual Congress featured 50 startups from 16 different countries pitching throughout the three days of the Congress and competing for some spectacular prizes, with the most coveted main prize being a seed investment from EBAN Member Marbella Tech Angels, led by serial entrepreneur and angel investor Andreas Mihalovits. 

Optoscribe, a world leader and global supplier of glass-based integrated photonics components, today announced that the company has closed a series B investment round of £1.8 million in line with its expansion and product supply plans. 

Although it will not have been the largest angel investment round in May, the funding for Kymira (just over £120k) deserves to be put in the spotlight because it has been made by a relatively new angel group, Henley Business Angels.

Angel Academe has backed Beamline Diagnostics, developers of an innovative biopsy triaging system. The company, founded by Dr. Liberty Foreman and Dr. Katherine Willetts, has closed a £650k investment round which was led by a syndicate of Angels in MedCity (AiMC) and other investors.
