The Resonance Bristol SITR Fund has made its fifth investment of £112,000 into social enterprise Bearpit Bristol, a community interest company focused on regenerating the St James Roundabout area using food retail and targeted community events.

The Enterprise Index, a quarterly barometer of owner managers and entrepreneurs, found that confidence in the UK economy grew five points from the previous quarter, with 50% of respondents expecting the economy to improve in the next 12 months.  Optimism in their own business prospects was also high, with three quarters (76%) optimistic about the year ahead.

A designer, manufacturer and distributor of bathroom fixtures and fittings has received a significant investment from BGF (Business Growth Fund). Halifax-based Ultra Finishing will use the funding for product development, expansion into new markets and to enhance its service proposition to accelerate organic growth.

BGF (Business Growth Fund) has announced its investment figures for 2016, detailing a record year for the company. In total, BGF has now invested in 165 companies. These businesses have a combined revenue of £4bn and employ over 30,000 people nationwide, a number which would make them the equivalent of the UK’s eighth largest private business employer.
