- 0 commentsOxford Innovation EIS Growth Fund alongside OION angel investors, have invested in the £1.2 million oversubscribed funding round for OSSTEC, the orthopaedics company developing bone healing implants.
Its patented platform technology, proven over 8 years of research and development at Imperial College London, reduces implant loosening and bone loss post-surgery. OSSTEC’s world leading team combining engineers and surgeons, has developed the first fully porous implants to stimulate long-term bone growth.

- 0 commentsA Newcastle-based company has raised over £ 1.85 million of funding to help its quest to save more lives through better testing for prostate cancer.
The funding includes £500,000 investment from the North East Innovation Fund, supported by the European Regional Development Fund and managed by Northstar Ventures alongside investment from Prostate Cancer Research together with and investment of £250,000 from JR Holding ASI, and £305,000 from angel investors. On top of this investment Innovate UK awarded the company a grant of £750,000 to develop its disease screening activities.

- 0 commentsQV Bioelectronics, creators of an innovative surgically implanted Electric Field Therapy (EFT) device for the treatment of brain tumours, has been awarded a £860,000 grant under the Combined Investor Partnerships Award. This follow a successful £2m Pre-Series A fundraising round in January 2023, which included a number of angel investors.
The award from Innovate UK takes the total amount of grant funding awarded to QV to £1.8m, which includes an ongoing Innovate UK Biomedical Catalyst Award and previous support from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and Innovate UK SMART.

- 0 commentsCanSense - a Swansea company which has developed a blood test that aims to save lives by diagnosing bowel cancer at an early stage - has raised £1.5m from Mercia, the Development Bank of Wales and liquid biopsy company Nonacus.
CanSense’s test, which combines laser spectroscopy with artificial intelligence, is faster, less expensive and less invasive than a colonoscopy procedure and more acceptable for patients than a faecal blood detection kit. It could help detect bowel cancer at an early stage when it is much easier to treat and the chance of survival is much higher.
