Turquoise invests £350k in Connected Energy

Turquoise, the UK merchant bank specialising in energy, environment and efficiency, has announced a £350,000 investment in Connected Energy, the third deal for the Low Carbon Innovation Fund 2 (LCIF2) since it started investing in June.

 Bamboo closes $7m investor-led round to drive expansion

Bamboo Systems, the Arm-only server vendor, has announced that it has secured a new, significant round of $7 million USD in funding. This new infusion is being led by existing investors Seraphim Capital and Opea Holding and with support from the UK’s £1.25 billion Future Fund, a government funding package designed to support startups driving innovation and development through the coronavirus outbreak.

Market-defying growth surge for UK’s gaming sector

The UK’s £4bn gaming sector is predicted to almost triple in value within the next 3 years to £10bn, with the current 27,000 employed by the sector expected to also triple within 5 years. The findings come from a new report set to be released next month by global recruitment agency Robert Walters.

Downing Ventures leads $20m funding for Cornelis Networks

Cornelis Networks, Inc., a provider of purpose-built interconnects focused on high performance computing (HPC), high performance data analytics (HPDA), and artificial intelligence (AI) has closed a $20 million Series-A funding round, led by Downing Ventures and joined by Intel Capital and Chestnut Street Ventures. Cornelis Networks is an independent company spun out from Intel’s Omni-Path Architecture Business.

Huboo raises £14m as pandemic drives rise in online shopping

Huboo, an e-commerce fulfilment and storage company, has rasied a further £14m investment as the pandemic triggers a rapid increase in online shopping.  The Series A funding sees European VC Stride and Hearst Ventures join previous investors Maersk Growth, Episode 1, Ada Ventures and True Capital and takes the total raised to £18 million.

Riskbook raises £2m from Episode 1, MMC and Seedcamp

Kindred Capital closes £81m second fund

Kindred Capital has closed its second seed fund at £81m. Through its ‘Equitable Venture’, the firm gives exceptional seed-stage entrepreneurs co-ownership in the fund that invested in their businesses.

Since its launch in 2015, the firm has now invested in 39 technology companies across Europe and Israel, with ten of those investments coming from the second fund. Kindred has been investing from the second fund over the last 12 months.

Tech dominates the world's fastest-growing companies

A new study by Merchant Machine finds the top countries, states and industries for the fastest-growing companies in Europe and the US.  The study found that technology ranks as the overall top industry, accounting for 21.3% of the 1,360 companies.
