Cohesity completes $250 million funding led by DFJ Growth

Cohesity has comleted a $250 million Series E funding, led by DFJ Growth, Foundation Capital, Greenspring Associates, and Wing Venture Capital. DFJ Growth and Greenspring Associates are new investors as are Baillie Gifford and Sozo Ventures.

The round also includes broad support from existing investors, including Sequoia Capital and SoftBank Vision Fund 1, as well as strategic investors Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Cisco Investments. Cohesity is now valued at $2.5 billion, more than double the valuation from the company’s Series D round less than two years ago. With the new funding, Cohesity’s total funding since inception exceeds $650 million.

Maven leads £3.5 million funding round in Nano Interactive

Maven Capital Partners has led an investment in Nano Interactive, an advertising technology business which specialises in intent targeting based on multiple signals including online search. Alongside the equity investment from Maven, the transaction has been supported by existing shareholders including Foresight Group.

The investment by Maven and Foresight will go towards supporting growth in sales and marketing operations, continued product development, as well as the establishment of an operation in the US.

Data streaming platform Ably secures £7m funding from MMC

Data streaming platform Ably has raised $7m in Series A funding, led by MMC Ventures, with Forward Partners co-investing. Building on the successful delivery of 1.5 trillion messages by Ably, this round will be used to scale, as demand for real-time around the world escalates.

Foresight invests £800,000 into Substantive Research Limited

Foresight Group has made a £800,000 growth capital investment into Substantive Research Limited, a provider of research analysis to asset managers.  This is the fourth investment made by the £20 million Foresight Scottish Growth Fund which is financed by the Scottish Growth Scheme through a combination of Scottish Government funds and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Kickstart opens for applications for a new cohort of later-stage tech startups

Kickstart, one of Europe's largest innovation platforms, is welcoming applications for the fifth iteration of its annual B2B scale-up programme aimed at late-stage start-ups interested in entering the Swiss market. 

Around 100 entrepreneurs will join the three-month programme in September to connect and create specific
pilots and commercial projects with one of Kickstart's 50 corporate and public sector partners, which include
businesses like AXA, Roche, Credit Suisse and Lafarge Holcim.

WealthTech startup InvestSuite raises €2 million led by PMV

InvestSuite has raised a seed extension round led by PMV with participation from existing and new business angels, management and employees. This €2 million is bringing its total funding since its start in June 2018 to €6 million.

Bart Vanhaeren, CEO and co-founder of InvestSuite states that, “This funding enables InvestSuite to expand its market reach and products, grow the team and bring unparalleled innovations to customers around the globe”.

Brookfield buys into Harwell Science and Innovation Campus

Brookfield Asset Management, through its Strategic Real Estate Partners III Fund, has acquired a 50% stake in Harwell Campus, as private shareholder partner of the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus Limited Partnership, the public/private joint venture that manages and develops Harwell Science and Innovation Campus. Brookfield has acquired the stake formerly owned by U and I Group PLC (“U+I”) and Harwell Oxford Partners Ltd.

Symvan investee company UnderPinned hits £500,000 crowdfunding target

Symvan investee UnderPinned has hit its £500,000 crowdfunding target. The freelance career platform, launched its crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube less than two years after launching and has so far raised just under £1.5 million.  UnderPinned provides freelancers with a one-stop career management platform, covering everything from building a portfolio and creating watertight contracts to automating invoices and payments. Members are also granted access to partner services through Open Banking, including Digital Risks, which offers self-employed insurance and 24/7 legal counsel.

Kernel Capital funds €1.2 million investment in Code Institute

Kernel Capital through the Bank of Ireland Kernel Capital Growth Funds II and Infinity Capital have led a €1.2m investment in Code Institute, a global EdTech provider. Founded in 2015 to tackle the widening ICT skills gap across Europe, Code Institute is now a leading global provider of online coding education with customers including BT, Facebook, Google and Hubspot.
