COO and Head of ESG among promotions and appointments at NorthEdge

NorthEdge has made a series of appointments and promotions across its Manchester and Leeds offices.

The lower mid-market private equity specialist, which manages more than £900m of funds, has promoted Partner Prem Mohan Raj to Chief Operating Officer. Prem joined the business in 2016 as Chief Financial Officer and has since played a key part in the firm’s success. His new role will see him take on increased responsibility for Investor Relations and fundraising alongside his responsibilities for finance, operations and marketing.

Oxitec receives US$6.8m from Wellcome Trust to scale up Aedes aegypti technology

Maven Equity Finance puts £600k into YR Free

Maven Equity Finance, part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund (NPIF) and managed by Maven Capital Partners, has led a £600,000 funding round for YR Free Labs Limited, a business providing secure technology for digitally recorded media via a video collaboration platform called ‘eviid’. The NPIF - Maven Equity Fund invested £600,000, alongside £225,000 from the Government’s Future Fund.

Avail Technologies raises £300k from Mercia

A recruitment platform which allows haulage operators to reduce costs has raised a further £300,000 to support its expansion plans.

Avail Technologies has secured funding from NPIF – Mercia Equity Finance, which is managed by Mercia and is part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund, and directors including chairman Keverne Watt. It comes as the company moves to new headquarters in Stockton-on-Tees, where it plans to recruit a further five staff in the year ahead.
