theUp.co nets £7M cash injection

Two London entrepreneurs who pivoted their mobile phone charging business into a successful mobile order and pay app and hand sanitiser network as the pandemic hit, generating turnover of £1m in a month, today scored a new win, securing £7 million to support the expansion of their hospitality “super app”. On a mission to lead innovation in the hospitality sector, theUp.co, secured investment from high-profile investors such as Jägermeister, former CEO of Monzo, Tom Blomfield and JamJar Investments - the ex-Innocent Smoothie founders fund, in the round led by a leading private global investor.

Silverfleet announces the sale of CoreDux

Silverfleet has announced that Arcline Investment Management has undertaken to acquire CoreDux, a manufacturer of flexible gas and fluid artery systems headquartered in The Netherlands. The consultation process of CoreDux’s work councils is to be launched shortly. Completion of the transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected by Q1 or Q2 2022.

YFM makes £8m follow-on investment in DSP-Explorer to fund further growth

One of the UK’s largest independent Oracle partners, DSP-Explorer, a database and cloud managed services provider, has received an additional £8m of investment from YFM Equity Partners (YFM). The investment, made by the YFM-managed YFM Equity Partners Buyout II LP fund, will enable the business to continue its organic and acquisitive growth plans.

Cyber firm Talion raises 7-figures from NPIF

Talion, a leading cybersecurity specialist that provides services for some of the UK’s biggest companies has raised a seven-figure sum from NPIF – Mercia Equity Finance, which is managed by Mercia and is part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund (NPIF).

The funding will allow Talion to further expand its business in the UK and target new customers in the US.

Talion was launched by BAE Systems in 2012 to help protect the Olympic Games in London from ‘nation state’ cyber attacks. Previously known as Sy4 Security, it became a standalone business in April 2020 when industry veteran Mike Brown, the current CEO, and BAE Systems’ head of security Keven Knight, the COO, led a management buy-out.

The latest round brings total funds raised by the company to $17.5m.
