Cambridge GaN Devices raises $9.5m led by IQ Capital, BGF and Parkwalk

Cambridge GaN Devices (CGD) has raised $9.5 million in Series A funding. The investment was co-led by IQ Capital, Parkwalk Advisors and BGF, and includes investment from Foresight Williams, Cambridge Enterprise, Martlet Capital, Cambridge Angels and Cambridge Capital Group. The funding will be used by CGD to expand its product portfolio of energy-efficient power devices and to double the size of its team.

Threat intelligence company Intelligence Fusion secures £400,000

Intelligence Fusion has secured a £400,000 investment from a number of sources to continue its growth in the expanding global intelligence market.  Led by Maven Capital Partners, the funding has been provided by the Finance Durham Fund, The Future Fund and existing investors.  The follow-on investment will support the business as it enters its next phase of growth after it successfully developed and launched its intelligence data feed platform two years ago.

Private capital funds must invest US$5.5bn to meet investors’ demands

Private capital funds face growing demands for transparency as mainstream investors increasingly turn to the sector to chase the higher returns it offers, new research* from Intertrust N.V. and Global Custodian reveals. Intertrust Group, a world leader in providing specialised administration services to clients in over 30 jurisdictions, estimates that around US$5.5 billion will need to be spent to meet these increasing demands worldwide over the next five years.

Psychological Technologies raises £1.7m supported by Angel Investment Network

Wellbeing startup Psychological Technologies (PSYT) has raised over £1.7m, supported by Angel Investment Network, the world’s largest online angel investment platform. The startup turns the advice of the world's leading self-development authors into digital, action-based summaries to help individuals create real change.  Founded by the former Head of Research at Headspace Nick Begley, PSYT launched an MVP last year based on a single book called “The Anxiety Solution” to test the proposition. The MVP was featured by Apple in the “Best Apps of March 2020” and has an average rating of 4.9*. The raise took eight weeks with the funding being used to bulk out the full-time team, develop more content and launch a multibook platform.

Blueberry Therapeutics receives £3.6 million investment

Drug discovery and development company, Blueberry Therapeutics, is announcing a £3.6m extension to its previously successful £10.8m Series B fundraising.

Japanese investor, Medical Incubator Japan (MIJ), and a private syndicate of US Board Certified Dermatologists - led by Dr Omar Ibrahimi of the Connecticut Skin Institute - have invested £3.1m and £500k, respectively.

Saudi oil company leads £2.9m investment in CorrosionRadar

CorrosionRADAR – whose technology can detect and predict corrosion in pipelines - has attracted funding from the Middle East’s largest oil and gas company as part of a £2.9m investment round.

Saudi Aramco Energy Ventures led the Series A round, with support from existing investors the MEIF Proof of Concept & Early Stage Fund, which is managed by Mercia and part of the Midlands Engine Investment Fund (MEIF), Mercia’s EIS funds and angel investors.
