Spotta, a pest-spotting AI company, raises more than $1m seed

Investors have rewarded the commercial success of Spotta’s smart pest systems with a $1.18 million seed funding round.  This investment reflects Spotta’s huge potential in global markets in farming, forestry, hospitality, and other sectors to solve the £320 bn ($400 bn) problem of insect pests while dramatically reducing pesticide use.  Representatives of Cambridge Angels and REMUS, a US-based VC firm, will join Spotta’s board as part of the £934,000 ($1,184,287*) investment deal. Other major investors include Martlet Capital, Wren Capital, and the Angel CoFund.

BGF invests in sustainable battery solutions developer Aceleron

 

Aceleron, the UK developer of sustainable and reusable battery solutions, has announced a £2m million equity investment with £1.45m from BGF, the UK’s most active investor, and the remainder from existing investor Mercia Asset Management.

Closed Loop Medicine secures £250,000 to support COVID- 19 monitoring

Closed Loop Medicine, the London based therapeutics and health tech company secures a £250,000 COVID-19 Innovate UK Continuity Funding award to support its ongoing clinical research programme previously secured through the Innovate UK Precision Medicine Accelerator.  Closed Loop Medicine were awarded the Innovate UK Precision Medicine Accelerator in 2019 to develop a precision drug + digital therapy package for patients with high blood pressure, the next stage of the project was to enter into clinical studies in April this year.

NEOS Surgery finalises €5-million operation with Avançsa joining its shareholders

NEOS Surgery, a company that researches, develops and markets implantable surgical devices for brain, spinal and cardiothoracic surgeries, has closed a €5-million funding operation, with Avançsa and Jiadel Medical joining its shareholders. It is a co-investment operation resulting from a deal reached in 2018 with Jiadel Medical (international distribution partner) that combined a capital injection and a sales deal.
